Expert review
After thoroughly testing this model and reviewing our customers’ opinions on the Philips Avent SCD503/00, we made the following review:

- Good sound with DECT technology
- Night light
- Good price

- Low volume
- No two-way communication
- Low battery life
Display: 5 out of 10
The parent unit has a simple and very easy to use design. It allows you to hear the baby clearly even if, although the volume is adjusted to the maximum, it feels quite low. The LED lights indicate the intensity of the sound if it is perceived in the child’s room.
One point against this model is that it does not have two-way communication, so we can only listen to the baby but we cannot talk to him.
It has the ECO mode which allows the device to remain in standby mode if no noise is heard and which is very useful for saving up the battery.
Battery: 6 out of 10
The baby unit must be connected to the power outlet. It cannot be used with batteries.
The receiver works with rechargeable batteries or connected to the power outlet. Also the ECO mode, created to make the battery last longer, doesn’t work as it should. In fact the battery will run out very quickly.
Range: 6 out of 10
The reception distance is 50 meters in narrow spaces and 300 in open spaces. Despite this, many customers complain that the signal is lost quite often, thus reducing reception.
Extras: 4 out of 10
It incorporates DECT technology that guarantees the absence of interference and a clear transmission of sound. It also has a night light that helps the baby relax.
Despite being a very “basic” model, other functions like remote lullabies or the baby room temperature sensor would be very useful.
Conclusion: 5.3 out of 10
This is a very simple product from Philips in the world of monitoring for the little ones. The sound quality is quite good, this too is often very low. We believe, however, that since DECT technology is the most important function, it does not fully meet expectations. Like so the ECO mode, as the battery runs out quite quickly.
The price is very good for parents looking for a baby monitor with essential functions, but it lacks some innovative features
Honestly I expected better … the audio is quite low and sometimes there is interference.
Good purchase! We are much more relaxed with the newborn baby. The only flaw is the battery … it lasts very little. For everything else I highly recommend it!
Good product although I have to say that sometimes you can’t hear anything. All in all it is good value for money.
