Expert review
After thoroughly testing this model and reviewing our customers’ opinions on the Philips Avent SCD630, we came up with the following review.

- Easy to use
- Good sound quality
- Battery of great autonomy

- Low image quality
- It does not have a motorized camera
- It is not possible to add extra cameras.
Camera: 8.5 out of 10
It is a video camera with a refined and elegant design. It can tilt in any direction, but does not reach 90º of inclination. It must always be connected to electricity and is equipped with night vision.
Probably the worst feature to consider is the lack of remote control with the camera. There are no controls for the panoramic view or for adjusting the inclination: it will be necessary to remain in the same room to adjust everything.
Display: 6.5 out of 10
It has a full color screen of good size (3.5 “). The main flaw of this model is the low image quality. The daytime images of Philips are a little darker and of lower quality than the image quality offered by other baby monitors of the same price. The nocturnal images, unfortunately, did not turn out to be equally valid: very grainy, they further lost their definition when zooming in. Even with extra lighting in the room, the images, although better, were not of particularly high quality.
The sound quality is quite good, also equipped with the VOX mode (ECO), and a 2X zoom (which due to the poor resolution of the image is not very useful).
Parents can stay calm as it incorporates a two-way communication system that, when necessary, allows us to calm our children from afar.
Battery: 9.5 out of 10
The video baby monitor has a lithium ion battery that brought us up to 9.5 hours of use during our tests. Philips claims that the battery life for the product is 10 hours and, from our test, we can say we have achieved a very similar result.
Range: 9 out of 10
This device works indoors within a range of 28 meters and within 5 walls. It has proven to have the ability to work even within 6 walls, but has started to lose the signal. The sound is quite consistent, but towards the end it started to work a little worse also due to electrical disturbances, but, despite this, it was still possible to hear the baby very well. Outdoors, our test has shown that the device is able to cover a range of 215 meters, losing a bit of signal towards the 230 meters, and past the 250 meters it was totally lost. According to the manufacturer, the device should cover a range of 300 meters that we were unable to range during our tests.
Extra: 8.5 out of 10
This model does not offer extra features. We can highlight the remote reproduction of lullabies, an accompanying night light and the temperature sensor of the baby’s room. However, it is impossible to add more than one camera, since this is a very useful and convenient function when the family grows and to avoid having to always move the camera.
Conclusion: 8.4 out 10
With an easy-to-use parent unit and very intuitive menu options, the Philips is a user friendly baby monitor that works well. However, it is important to note that the camera has some minor defects and that the images are not top quality, especially at night.
If you are looking for a high-end device to monitor your child, buying the Philips Avent SCD630 baby monitor is a good choice. Although it is true that image quality is not the best, especially at night. For this price you could also expect a motorized camera.
It’s my first monitor and I’m very happy.
Happy, but I think it’s too expensive for what it offers.
Great camera for children. It arrived the day after the purchase.
My husband and I advise against it if you live in a house that is too big. In my mother’s apartment it works well.
The price is high but I’m happy even if the image quality is not the best
Online I found much nicer models, however it’s a good product, it doesn’t have all the features of the most advanced models but we can’t complain.
Being a product so expensive and a brand so famous, I expected better quality.
