Expert review
After thoroughly testing this model and reviewing our customers’ opinions on the Philips Avent SCD610, we came up with the following review.

- Design
- Ease of use
- Expandable up to 4 cameras
- Wall or cradle support

- Does not have two-way communication
- Low image quality
- Possible interference
- Absence of lullabies
- Low battery life
Camera: 8 out of 10
It has a beautiful design and is accompanied by a useful support to fix it to the wall and to the cradle. The degrees of inclination of the camera to focus your baby are not very high, but despite this, it fulfills its function quite well.
This camera works only connected to the power supply and does not have the motorized camera function to monitor the little one in case it moves, but given the price it was to be expected that it did not include this function.
It also has the indispensable infrared function to be able to see our baby in the dark.
Display: 6.5 out of 10
Without doubt it is the weakest part of this model. The 2.4 inch LCD screen is quite small and the image quality leaves enough to be desired, and many of our customers inform us of sudden signal interference and losses.
It has the VOX mode which activates the screen automatically when the baby cries, however it lacks the indispensable two-way communication to be able to talk to your baby.
Incorporates the zoom function to enlarge the image from the parent unit.
Battery: 6.5 out of 10
The video camera must always be connected to the power supply to operate, instead the screen can stay connected to the power supply or work with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. What is negative is the battery life which is not very long, normally it is 3 – 4 hours. This yes, it has a low battery alarm, but it emits a very loud whistle that cannot be disconnected and is very annoying.
Range: 8 out of 10
It has a coverage of 150 meters which is what the mid-range baby monitors normally have, but need to keep in mind that in enclosed spaces this coverage is reduced enough.
Extra: 7 out of 10
This model gives us the possibility to connect up to 4 cameras simultaneously, this without a doubt is a great success of Philips. However, being a simple baby monitor, there is a lack of certain things, such as the reproduction of lullabies, very useful for calming your baby without having to go to his room. It doesn’t even have a temperature sensor to find out the status of your baby’s room.
Conclusion: 7.2 out of 10
It is a model that stands out for its simplicity, the use of the parents’ monitor is very simple and the design is beautiful. But we think that at this price a brand like Philips should offer a higher quality product. Missing two-way communication and a screen with a better resolution.
Buying the Philips Avent 610 baby monitor can be a good option if you’re looking for a model with a simple and convenient video camera, without great complexity. It will not satisfy the most demanding parents.
I only tried it for a week and at the moment it works well.
I must say that the sound is good but the image is not as good.
I discovered that this model has a limit: I can only listen to my baby and not talk to him. I’ve seen other models that let you do it.
I’m happy, the product is handy and easy to use
I used it a lot and even my husband could not do without it! The sound is not always clear but the baby monitor is very light and easy to handle, and it is really easy to use.
I am satisfied with the purchase it is very simple to use and allows me to do the chores at home while my Mattia sleeps. A little less positive note is that the screen is small and the image quality is not very precise.
